About Marc Lowe, CFP®

Hey, I’m Marc Lowe, Founder of In The Money Retirement Planning

I’m a born and raised New Yorker—but I didn’t enter this industry because “that’s what all New Yorkers do”…

I entered it because I understood what it feels like to build something… and then ask:

“What was all of this for?”

I grew up in a home defined by hard work, family, and opportunity. There was always great food, good music, and one expectation:

Make something of yourself.

That perspective shaped my career—but more importantly, it shaped how I see the people I work with today.

Because by the time you reach your 50s and 60s…

You’ve already done the building.

Now the question becomes:

How do you turn everything you’ve built into something that actually supports your life?

Why I Started In The Money Retirement Planning

Before launching my firm, I worked within large financial institutions and had the privilege of serving hundreds of clients across the country.

Over time, I noticed a pattern.

The people who were closest to retirement—especially business owners and families—had the most at stake…

…but weren’t getting the level of planning they actually needed.

They had:

  • Businesses generating strong income

  • Retirement accounts they hadn’t fully optimized

  • Estate plans that were outdated—or not structured properly

  • Tax bills that kept getting bigger

And most of the advice they were receiving?

Focused on investments first.

That never made sense to me.

Because at this stage of life, the biggest risks—and the biggest opportunities—don’t come from the market.

They come from decisions around:

  • How you draw income

  • How much you lose to taxes

  • How your assets transfer to your family

  • How you protect everything you’ve built

  • And how you transition out of work on your terms

So I built a firm designed specifically to help you navigate this phase of life with clarity and control.

How I Work

At In The Money Retirement Planning, I help small business owners and families bring everything together into one coordinated strategy.

Because at this stage, everything is connected.

Your income strategy impacts your taxes.

Your taxes impact your retirement.

Your retirement impacts your legacy.

My role is to help you:

  • Turn decades of work into reliable retirement income

  • Reduce lifetime taxes across retirement and beyond

  • Align your estate plan with how you actually want assets to transfer

  • Create a clear transition plan—whether that means slowing down, selling, or stepping away

  • Stress test your plan so you can move forward with confidence

This isn’t about checking in once a year and talking about markets.

It’s about building a strategy where your money, your decisions, and your future all work together.

What I Believe

My philosophy is grounded in a few core principles:

  • Retirement isn’t an age—it’s a financial transition that needs a plan

  • Taxes don’t go away in retirement—they often increase without strategy

  • Income planning is more important than investment returns at this stage

  • A well-structured estate plan protects your family from unnecessary stress, costs, and delays

  • Your financial life should feel organized, not overwhelming

  • Small, intentional decisions now can save you hundreds of thousands over time

  • Execution—not ideas—is what creates results

Life Outside of Work

At the center of my life is my family. I’m a husband and father of three, and much of my time outside of work is spent with them—often coaching my kids’ sports teams on the weekends.

I’ve always been drawn to boxing—the discipline, strategy, and mental toughness it demands. I enjoy studying the sport and watching classic fights, especially those featuring Muhammad Ali.

Before finance, music played a major role in my life. I was the lead singer of a band, played guitar, and recorded a full album. That creative background still influences how I think and solve problems today.

I also enjoy golf, basketball, and collecting vinyl records. And when it comes to food, nothing beats Guyanese cuisine—in my opinion.

Giving back matters to me as well. I stay involved in the local community by helping create opportunities for youth through sports and mentorship programs that build confidence and discipline.

My Experience

Before founding In The Money Retirement Planning, I built my experience across several respected firms:

  • Financial Advisor at Fisher Investments, managing a book of approximately 200 clients

  • Advisory platform experience through Charles Schwab

  • Private wealth management experience at Spartan Capital

Who I Work With

I primarily serve:

  • Small business owners preparing for transition or exit

  • Families between ages 50–65 approaching retirement

  • Individuals who want to reduce taxes and create reliable income

  • Households who want their estate plan to actually work the way they intend

  • People who want comprehensive planning—not just investment management

These are people who want to be intentional about turning a lifetime of work into freedom, security, and a lasting legacy.

Why This Work Matters

I’ve seen what happens when people reach this stage without a plan:

  • They’ve saved well—but aren’t sure how to turn it into income

  • They pay more in taxes than they need to

  • Their estate plans create confusion instead of clarity

  • They hesitate on decisions because they don’t know the full impact

And I’ve seen what happens when they do have a plan:

  • You retire on your terms—not out of uncertainty

  • Your income becomes predictable and structured

  • Your tax strategy becomes intentional

  • Your family is protected from unnecessary complications

  • You move forward with clarity and confidence

That’s the work I do.

Helping you take everything you’ve built—and turn it into a plan that actually supports the life you want to live.
